TSUNAMI

The exceptional intensity of the emotions- disbelief, compassion, and global concern- displayed at the Asian Tsunami disaster is a prime example of the discourse of compassion and humanitarianism created and fostered by the political climate and media. Compared with the absence of this type of global concern for the humanitarian crises in Iraq, in Rwanda, in Palestine, the compassion for more instantaneous “natural” disasters (a misnomer since the impact of such disasters is inextricably linked to the inequalities of empire) as opposed to the more readily preventative devastation of war, militarization and genocide brings to light the degree of indecency and multiple personalities of the colonial consciousness.

I was present in Pondicherry (which recorded nearly 500 deaths) on that fateful sunday at Sweety's place. I was scheduled to start back to Nellore on that day, but remained back there for nearly 2 more days after the quake.

I wos surprised to see many of my school and college frnds there. It was a v good movie. And the whole evening I spent burning crackers, it wos such fun.
That's how yesterday was. I guess it won't be that fun today.

Coming home

I'm coming bk to Rjy on 20th oct, so i'll be able to spend more time online then. College life is turning out to be really adventurious in escaping frm the seniors who resort to ragging on the very first chance they get. I'm being quite successful for now, but this is just the beginning.

At college..

Im at my college at present and I don't have much time to put much matter here. So I'm making it short.
Been to college for 3 days only and I found these 3 days to be extremely hip and happening. There was no ragging by the seniors as I managed to make a few friends from seniors as well. All the people, teachers, subjects and everything is new and fresh so need some time to feel at home here.
G2G bye..

The whole evening yesterday I've been at Phalguna's home with Pru eating and enjoying while it was raining heavily outdoors.
That's it I'm leaving now to the railway station. Bye..

Holidays, towards an end...

I'm being irregular these days(on putting up posts here). My college starts on 23rd sep. Thats not far from now; about a week to go, thats all. Lot of shopping needs to be done and packing too. life was such fun this whole week; been enjoying a lot with friends. I think I'll be doin some shopping today.

The whole day yesterday I've been with Phalguna and Prudhvi; We went to our old school to get Phalu's Study certificate and frm there went to APPM school where he studied for the same purpose too. It was fun to see Phalu chat with his friend Suvasini yesterday afternoon, they kept taunting each other. Then we met David and Vamsi at an internet cafe. After they left Aishwarya came there, I was really surprised to see her. Off to phalu's home we went, he has a SONY sound system which is really cool. We closed all the doors and windows and played the songs of Arjun and Gharshana at full volume, the house was apparently shaking of the bass. It was such fun.

I have to attend an aptitude test on the 19th which is being conducted by NIIT computers, but with nil preparation. I'm not in a mood to sit with books now.

RAMAYANA

If we describe “RAMAYANA” in computer words, it will be like…

LAN, LAN ago, in the SYSTEM of I/O-dhya, there ruled a PROCESSOR named DOS-rat. Once he EXECUTED a great sacrifice PROGRAM after which his queens gave an OUTPUT of four SUNs – RAM, LS1man, BUG-rat and SED-rughana. RAM the eldest was a MICROCHIP with excellent MEMORY. His brothers, however, were only PERIPHERAL ICs. Once when RAM was only 16MB, he married princess ‘C’ta. 12 years passed and DOS-rat decided to INSTALL RAM as his successor.
However, queen CIE/CAE (Kayekayee), who was once offered a boon by DOS-rat for a life saving HELP COMMAND, took this opportunity at the instigation of her BIOSed maid (a real plotter), and insisted that her son Bug-rat be INSTALLED and that RAM be BOOTED to the forest for 14 years. At this cruel and unexpected demand, a SURGE passed thru DOS-rat and he collapsed, power-less. RAM agreed to LOG INTO forest and ‘C’ta insisted to LOGIN with him. LS1-man was also resolved on LOGGING IN with his brother. The forest was the dwelling of SPARC-nakha, the TRANSISTOR of RAW-van, the PROCESSOR of LAN-ka. Attracted by RAM’s stature, she proposed that she marry him. RAM, politely declined. Perceiving ‘C’ta to be the SOURCE CODE of her distress, she hastened to kill her. Weeping, SPARC-nakha fled to LAN-ka, where RAW-van, moved by TRANSISTOR’s plight, approached his uncle MAR-icha. MAR-icha REPROGRAMMED himself into the form of a golden stag and drew RAM deep into the forest. Finally, tried of chase, RAM shot the deer, who, with his last breath, cried out desperately for LS1-man in RAM’s voice. Fooled by this VIRTUAL RAM SOUND, ‘C’ta urged LS1-man to his brother’s aid. Catching the opportunity, RAW-van DELINKED ‘c’ta from her LIBRARY and changed her ROOT DIRECTORY to LAN-ka.

GMail invitations

I have some GMail invitations. Any one wanting them can put up a comment here with ur email adds. The invitations are for free out of goodwill.

Dhoom

I saw the film Dhoom yesterday at Pru's home with Gowtham. It looks like the movie was made exclusively for those thrills only, the story is a weakling. No wonder it's not faring well. But the thrills were note-worthy, especially those with John Abraham on a bike. He looks really cool, but what he does finally with his bike is really stupid.

An ideal evening

Last night I saw the movie Pearl harbor for the tenth time and eventually went to bed late. The whole night I was having dreams of myself fighting a war, I woke up just in time before a bullet hit my head.
Been speeding on the streets of Raj the whole yesterday evening with Gowtham on his bike; been to Archies gallery and few other shops searching for some posters. The traffic here is getting insane, looked like we were the target for every vehicle on the road. After enjoying some really tasty road-side Mirchi bajjis, we went to Gowtham's home, watched TV for some time and I came bk home.
I think we'll be going to the park today.

Today..

Finally the Olympics are over; have to wait for another 4 yrs. By then I’ll have completed my engineering. The closing ceremony was not that.. remarkable, though the firework display was spectacular. They cud have used a bit of laser displays and stuff like at Hyderabad for the Afro-Asian games last year. The Greek music at the ceremony was splendid. I guess the next Olympics at Beijing are going to be really good. The Chinese have displayed some marvelous and praise-worthy gut this year, winning 31 golds second only to US with 35 golds, the year 2008 will see the Asian power dominating US and holding its flag high in its own soil. India will be hosting the Olympic games for the first time in the year 2016 at the city of Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra pradesh state.

The next bit of news is that, my college will be opening on the 23rd of Sep. So I have another 20 comfortable days at least. Meanwhile I have a lot of shopping to do for my hostel. I’ve been hanging out with my friends lately, been to my old college two days bk, had a nice chat with Phalguna bout Vampires (helping him finish an essay for his bros home work). Harsha called yester evening, we talked for a long time. He’s taking long term coaching at Hyd. for medical entrance, Looks like Hyd’s doin a bit of good for him, he managed to get a few girl friends in a remarkably short time of one month.
That’s all… g2g…, I need to go the saloon for a hair-cut.

Current music: Spanish eyes.

GENERALLY RUDE THINGS TO SAY

~Any similarity between you and a human is purely coincidental!

~Anyone who told you to be yourself couldn't have given you worse advice.

~Are your parents siblings?

~As an outsider, what do you think of the human race?

~Calling you stupid would be an insult to stupid people.

~Did your parents ever ask you to run away from home?

~Do you ever wonder what life would be like if you'd had enough oxygen at birth?

~Do you want people to accept you as you are or do you want them to like you?

~Don't you have a terribly empty feeling - in your skull?

~Do you still love nature, despite what it did to you?

~Don't you need a license to be that ugly?

~Every girl has the right to be ugly, but you abused the privilege!

~Go ahead, tell them everything you know. It'll only take 10 seconds.

~Have you considered suing your brains for non-support?

~He has a mind like a steel trap - always closed!

~He is living proof that man can live without a brain!

~He is the kind of a man that you would use as a blueprint to build an idiot.

~He's not stupid; he's possessed by a retarded ghost.

~Here's 20 cents. Call all your friends and bring back some change!

~Hi! I'm a human being! What are you?

~How did you get here? Did someone leave your cage open?

~I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass.

~I bet your brain feels as good as new, seeing that you've never used it.

~I bet your mother has a loud bark!

~I could make a monkey out of you, but why should I take all the credit?

~I don't consider you a vulture. I consider you something a vulture would eat.

~I don't know what makes you so stupid, but it really works!

~I don't think you are a fool. But then what's MY opinion against thousands of others?

~I hear the only place you're ever invited is outside.

~I hear you were born on a farm. Any more in the litter?

~I heard you got a brain transplant and the brain rejected you!

~I heard you went to have your head examined but the doctors found nothing there.

~I know you are nobody's fool but maybe someone will adopt you.

~I thought of you all day today. I was at the zoo.

~I would ask you how old you are but I know you can't count that high.

~I'd like to help you out. Which way did you come in?

~I'd like to leave you with one thought...but I'm not sure you have anywhere to put it!

~I'd love to go out with you, but my favorite commercial is on TV.

~I'll never forget the first time we met - although I'll keep trying.

~I'm busy now. Can I ignore you some other time?

~I've seen people like you before, but I had to pay admission!

~If I ever need a brain transplant, I'd choose yours because I'd want a brain that had never been used.

~If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person alive.

~If we were to kill everybody who hates you, it wouldn't be murder; it would be genocide!

~If what you don't know can't hurt you, she's invulnerable.

~If you stand close enough to him, you can hear the ocean.

~If your brain was chocolate it wouldn't fill an M&M.

~Keep talking, someday you'll say something intelligent.

~Learn from your parents' mistakes - use birth control!

~Pardon me, but you've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn.

~So, a thought crossed your mind? Must have been a long and lonely journey.

~Some day you will find yourself - and wish you hadn't.

~There is no vaccine against stupidity.
