Saturday evening..

Well the climate's cold outside and added to that these guys at Reliance WebWorld like to have the AC at the top mark, and I feel chilled to the bones.
Guess I shd be at home right now studying for the ensuring exams (pre-finals from Monday, lab externals the following week and Sem-Finals the week after). Strangely I feel no tensi0n welling up in my head, seems that I've got accustomed to facing exams. The project work kept me busy the whole last week and guess what,, we won the Second prize beating several teams of third and final years. And we'll be up on the stage for taking the prize on our College-day.
91 friends on my Yahoo! messenger list, 90 -offline, 1 -I'm on SMS, It's Saturday evening don't know where these people go. What better work can they have other than staying online.
Eventually I'm bored, bye.

India vs SouthAfrica

Came up for short stay of two days at Raj.
My Aunt from South Africa is here. I was watching some of her videos of Johannesburg and Cape town and couldn't help wondering why Indians actually drove out the British. About 60 years back SA was in a much more pitiable state than India. Then India got independence but the face of the country remained more or less the same and not until the mid 90s did any noticeable uplifts such as the boom of the IT sector come into the scenario. SA got independence about 40 or 45 years after us but tremendous development took place in this time gap and now the cities of SA are as modern as any American or European ones. I bet you can't argue that all that development was actually possible without the help of the English.

What goes around comes around !

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

"I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."
"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

"Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly. "I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of." And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time? Penicillin.
The name of the nobleman ? Lord Randolph Churchill.
His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.

LOVE !

10th Grade
As I sat there in English class, I stared at the girl next to me. She was my so called 'best friend'. I stared at her long, silky hair, and wished she was mine. But she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it. After class, she walked up to me and asked me for the notes she had missed the day before. I handed them to her. She said 'thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

11th grade
The phone rang. On the other end, it was her. She was in tears, mumbling on and on about how her love had broken her heart. She asked me to come over because she didn't want to be alone, which I did. As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her soft eyes, wishing she was mine. After 2 hours, and one Drew Barrymore movie, and three bags of chips, she decided to go home. She looked at me, said 'thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek..I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

Senior year
One fine day she walked to my locker. "My date is sick" she said, "his not gonna go", well, I too didn't have a date, and in 7th grade, we made a promise that if neither of us had dates, we would go together just as 'best friends'. So we did. That night, after everything was over, I was standing at her front door step. I stared at her as she smiled at me and stared at me with her crystal eyes. Then she said- "I had the best time, thanks!" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

Graduation
A day passed, then a week, then a month. Before I could blink, it was graduation day. I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel up on stage to get her diploma. I wanted her to be mine-but she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it. Before everyone went home, she came to me in her smock and hat, and cried as I hugged her. Then she lifted her head from my shoulder and said- 'you're my best friend, thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

Marriage
Now I sit in the pews of the church. That girl is getting married now. and will be driving off to her new life, married to another man. I wanted her to be mine, but she didn't see me like that, and I knew it. But before she drove away, she came to me and said 'you came ...!'. She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek. I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love her but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why.

Death
Years passed, I looked down at the coffin of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'. At the service, they read a diary entry she had wrote in her high school years. This is what it read: "I stare at him wishing he was mine; but he doesn't notice me like that, and I know it. I want to tell him, I want him to know that I don't want to be just friends, I love him but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why. I wish he would tell me he loved me! .........'I wish I did too...' I thought to my self, and I cried.

They won't be there...................Forever. "

Doomsday LONDON !!

First the WTC and then London. What does the stupid Al-Qaeida have in their minds? Blowing up the city's metro, killing people. My God! My aunt who lives in London says some of the bodies have been irretreivably stuck up in the debris of the train, people are coming out of the metro with either blood or soot over their faces.

Bloody buggars, do they think they can go on killing innocent people in the name of Jehad(the supposed to be 'war of religions' to declare Islamic superiority). I think this bombing attack is to renew the fear of terror among the people who are just forgetting the 9/11 tragedy. The day will come when they will even face the judgement, the wrath of the rest of the world. That is when the fate of Jehad will be closed forever.

For that Judgement day let us wait.

Into the second year

Now I'm a senior and I can get to rag a few new-comers. Sounds fun.

The first day at college wasn't as fun as I expected it to be.. neway it was good to meet my friends after the hols.

The only bad news is from the academic side, now I'll have to face TWO subjects relating to the Electronics side which I'm not to keen upon. Apart from those I'll be having a stupid IC lab.. that means more of those tense moments during Viva-voce and observations and records too. The other lab is Java one, its quite fun(computers are always fun).

Pray let this semister pass quickly.

Stanford address by Apple Chief....

'You've got to find what you love,' Jobs says

This is the text of the Commencement address by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, delivered on June 12, 2005.

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

My second story is about love and loss.

I was lucky – I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released our finest creation - the Macintosh - a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me – I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the worlds first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I retuned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.
Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I'm fine now.

This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

What Women Want !! **

There are two basic stories for how men and women "start off" together, and two basic stories for how men and women "end up". Through all of time, I'm sure that men and women have been playing out these stories... and I'm sure that they'll continue to play them out long into the future (that is, unless I have something to say about it... and I do).

THE MEETING STORIES
Here's "Meeting Story #1":
Boy is attracted to girl. Unfortunately, boy doesn't have a clue about how to make girl feel ATTRACTION for him... so instead he tries to "pursue" girl by offering her dinners, gifts, and flowers. Girl finds boy "nice", but there are no "sparks", so she "just likes him as a friend".
Here's "Meeting Story #2":
Boy is attracted to girl. Fortunately for him, boy understands ATTRACTION, and begins to communicate with girl in a way that makes her feel a powerful physical and emotional response for boy that she can't control. The sparks fly, and boy and girl "get together".

As I'm sure you know...In story #1, GIRL is in total control of the situation, and both of them know it.In story #2, BOY is the one who's in control of the situation.

THE STORIES OF HOW THINGS "END UP"
Let's assume that somehow boy and girl actually "get together". Things usually go one of two ways after that...
Here's "End Up Story #1":
Boy and girl get together. Boy realizes that he "REALLY likes" girl. Boy begins to act more and more predictable. Boy starts to share "how he feels" about girl too often. Boy becomes more and more submissive. Girl loses that feeling of ATTRACTION that she once had for boy, and has no way of explaining or understanding why. Girl leaves boy, and boy is left wondering what happened.
Here's "End Up Story #2":
Boy and girl get together. Boy understands that no matter how much he likes girl, he cannot let himself become a Wussy who chases girl around "sharing how he feels" and become boring. Boy keeps the relationship interesting, and he keeps challenging girl. He stays in control of himself, and by understanding his role as "The Man" in the relationship, keeps girl interested and attracted to him into the future.

And again, as I'm sure you know...
In story #1, GIRL is in total control of the situation, and both of them know it.
In story #2, BOY is the one who's in control of the situation.

If you look at your experience with women, I'm sure you'll see that these short stories describe MOST of the experiences you've had. Now, of course there are slight twists and variations, but the message is clear:
YOU MUST UNDERSTAND HOW ATTRACTION WORKS FOR WOMEN... AND HOW TO KEEP THE ATTRACTION GOING WHEN YOU MEET A WOMAN YOU REALLY LIKE.
If you don't understand ATTRACTION and how it works, then you are destined to keep playing out these same stories for the rest of your life. It's very unlikely that you'll stumble upon the "magic solution" by accident...
ATTRACTION IS DIFFERENT FOR WOMEN THAN IT IS FOR MEN--
VERY DIFFERENT
The reality is that you CAN stop this negative pattern if you WANT to.
But the key is:
1) Understanding how ATTRACTION works for WOMEN.
2) Understanding YOURSELF so you don't ALLOW yourself to act like a Wussy, become boring, and turn a good thing into a bad one... but instead you do the RIGHT things to keep everything on the right track.

If you know how to make a woman feel ATTRACTION for you, then you can control your destiny with women. If you DON'T know how to make a woman feel ATTRACTION for you, then you cannot control your destiny with women.

Read that paragraph again, and think about it for a minute before you go on.

OK, so I mentioned that ATTRACTION is very different for women than it is for men. Different how? What do I mean by that?Well, generally speaking, for a woman, ATTRACTION is a PROCESS... not an "event". It happens over time, and it becomes stronger or weaker depending upon how well the man in the situation understands how it works.
For a man, ATTRACTION is much more of an "event", meaning that it's either there or it isn't. It really doesn't matter whether or not the woman understands how it works. (As an interesting side note, if a woman really knows how ATTRACTION works, and her intention is to manipulate a man, it usually works VERY well.)So think of a woman's "Attraction Mechanism" more like a volume knob than a light switch. It's like a fantastic, classy old car that needs to warm up for a long time before you can drive it... not like a brand new Honda that you can start up and get right on the freeway with.

Here's a little secret about women and ATTRACTION:
If you'll just take a little longer in every situation to AMPLIFY a woman's ATTRACTION, she'll love you for it... and you'll experience rewards that will make the extra time you spent seem like the best investment of your entire life.
Here are a few specific tips for you for the "Meeting Phase":
1) Start with something STRONG, not with something WEAK.When a guy finds a girl interesting, he usually turns into a ball of nervous mush. Then, he usually makes the mistake of letting the woman KNOW that he's nervous and weak.
Don't do it.
Do something STRONG.
Challenge her.
If she thinks that she's cool, make fun of her. If she's smart, argue with her a little.
If she's doing something, tell her that you could do it better.
When you PUSH a little, and show some BACKBONE, she'll push back. That's your sign that the GAME IS ON.
If you just chase after her like the 100 other Wussies that have been bothering her this week, you will just be another boring, predictable face in the crowd.

2) Keep the TENSION UP.
One of my favorite concepts is "Never let the line go slack". This means that once you SPARK the "chemistry" or "sexual tension", you need to KEEP IT UP.
Just because she starts doing things that hint to you that she's interested doesn't mean that it's time to STOP. Quite the opposite, actually. Turn UP the volume a little. It's working, so do more!

3) Tease.
The word "tease" has a couple of meanings. One of the meanings has to do with doing things that are slightly annoying to get a response from someone. The other meaning is subtly different, and has to do with drawing out a response that you want by doing certain things that indirectly trigger it.Do both.If you're about to kiss her, wait until your lips are so close that you can almost feel her... and then STOP. Pull away, and smile.If you want to know how she feels about you, say "You LOVE me" in a condescending tone of voice, and see how she responds. If she says "NO I DON'T!" in an exaggerated, mocking way, then she probably DOES "love" you.
Teasing is fantastic. Do more of it.

And here are a few tips for the "End Up" phase:
1) Never become BORING.
Being predictable and boring is a cardinal sin when it comes to ATTRACTION. Don't do either.
Of course, telling a man not to be predictable is like telling a dog not to hump your leg. Most guys are PAINFULLY predictable. We LIKE being predictable, actually. I get it. But when it comes to a woman you enjoy, you'd better figure out a way to STOP IT.There's nothing that will kill the sparks faster than her knowing what you're about to do or say.

2) Don't hand over control.Women like men who make decisions and take the lead. Now, I'm not saying that women like men who are overly controlling. What I am saying is that women don't like guys who are always saying things like "I don't know, what do YOU want to do, baby?".Women don't want men that they can control, so don't be one.

3) Respect yourself, and keep your own interests.When a guy meets a woman he likes, he often wants to spend as much time as possible with her.
This is natural, of course. But there's a big danger here, as well. If you put your life aside for a woman, you will become less interesting to HER. In the long run, it's MUCH better to keep your friends, your interests, and your hobbies, and to spend time doing the things you enjoy... WITHOUT HER.
And I think it's VERY important to keep improving yourself as a person, and continue to be a guy that she can look up to and respect. As soon as you start acting like she's going to be around forever, she'll start feeling less and less ATTRACTION for you.

'SUPER' rocks




The audio of the Telugu flick "Super" really rocks. The music director Sandeep Chowtha really mixed magic into the music. The lyrics give it a sporting edge. Most of the items have already found places in many discos and are being subjected to remixes. The item "Mila Mila......" is awesome; needless to mention the other items like "Akkad bakkad......", "Masthana.......", "chandramukhi........" are a class apart. The remix song of "Masthana..." has been included in the latest release of the disk.

Heard that the flick features some really superb bike races and stunts. It has been shot mostly at Mauritius. I can hardly wait for the release of the movie.

TSUNAMI

The exceptional intensity of the emotions- disbelief, compassion, and global concern- displayed at the Asian Tsunami disaster is a prime example of the discourse of compassion and humanitarianism created and fostered by the political climate and media. Compared with the absence of this type of global concern for the humanitarian crises in Iraq, in Rwanda, in Palestine, the compassion for more instantaneous “natural” disasters (a misnomer since the impact of such disasters is inextricably linked to the inequalities of empire) as opposed to the more readily preventative devastation of war, militarization and genocide brings to light the degree of indecency and multiple personalities of the colonial consciousness.

I was present in Pondicherry (which recorded nearly 500 deaths) on that fateful sunday at Sweety's place. I was scheduled to start back to Nellore on that day, but remained back there for nearly 2 more days after the quake.

Came back to Rjy just yesterday, went to 7/G Brundavan colony movie for the matinee show with Prudhwi and Phalguna. I was late for the movie and missed a small bit of it. I wos surprised to see many of my school and college frnds there. It was a v good movie. And the whole evening I spent burning crackers, it wos such fun.
That's how yesterday was. I guess it won't be that fun today.

Holidays, towards an end...

I'm being irregular these days(on putting up posts here). My college starts on 23rd sep. Thats not far from now; about a week to go, thats all. Lot of shopping needs to be done and packing too. life was such fun this whole week; been enjoying a lot with friends. I think I'll be doin some shopping today.

The whole day yesterday I've been with Phalguna and Prudhvi; We went to our old school to get Phalu's Study certificate and frm there went to APPM school where he studied for the same purpose too. It was fun to see Phalu chat with his friend Suvasini yesterday afternoon, they kept taunting each other. Then we met David and Vamsi at an internet cafe. After they left Aishwarya came there, I was really surprised to see her. Off to phalu's home we went, he has a SONY sound system which is really cool. We closed all the doors and windows and played the songs of Arjun and Gharshana at full volume, the house was apparently shaking of the bass. It was such fun.

I have to attend an aptitude test on the 19th which is being conducted by NIIT computers, but with nil preparation. I'm not in a mood to sit with books now.

An ideal evening

Last night I saw the movie Pearl harbor for the tenth time and eventually went to bed late. The whole night I was having dreams of myself fighting a war, I woke up just in time before a bullet hit my head.
Been speeding on the streets of Raj the whole yesterday evening with Gowtham on his bike; been to Archies gallery and few other shops searching for some posters. The traffic here is getting insane, looked like we were the target for every vehicle on the road. After enjoying some really tasty road-side Mirchi bajjis, we went to Gowtham's home, watched TV for some time and I came bk home.
I think we'll be going to the park today.

Today..

Finally the Olympics are over; have to wait for another 4 yrs. By then I’ll have completed my engineering. The closing ceremony was not that.. remarkable, though the firework display was spectacular. They cud have used a bit of laser displays and stuff like at Hyderabad for the Afro-Asian games last year. The Greek music at the ceremony was splendid. I guess the next Olympics at Beijing are going to be really good. The Chinese have displayed some marvelous and praise-worthy gut this year, winning 31 golds second only to US with 35 golds, the year 2008 will see the Asian power dominating US and holding its flag high in its own soil. India will be hosting the Olympic games for the first time in the year 2016 at the city of Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra pradesh state.

The next bit of news is that, my college will be opening on the 23rd of Sep. So I have another 20 comfortable days at least. Meanwhile I have a lot of shopping to do for my hostel. I’ve been hanging out with my friends lately, been to my old college two days bk, had a nice chat with Phalguna bout Vampires (helping him finish an essay for his bros home work). Harsha called yester evening, we talked for a long time. He’s taking long term coaching at Hyd. for medical entrance, Looks like Hyd’s doin a bit of good for him, he managed to get a few girl friends in a remarkably short time of one month.
That’s all… g2g…, I need to go the saloon for a hair-cut.

I've seen the movie 'NAA AUTOGRAPH'(telugu) yesterday. It wos such a sweet movie; the guy reminiscences his child hood brought up in the beautiful village Korukonda near Rajahmundry, continuing his studies at Kerala, growing in Vijayavada and eventually reaching the enormous Hyderabad where he works in an Ad agency as a director. He's a lucky guy to have got a girlfriend for each passing phase of his life. In a way the movie was inspiring; especially the character which Bhoomika donned to perfection.
Have U ever wondered or cared to know why we Indians are the happiest people in the world; the one word answer is SECURITY which U get only from ur families. The song Mounamganee.... from the movie shows a whole lot of blind and disabled people performing, leaving aside their disability but holding on to their abilities; I cud see some people with tears in their eyes when the song was running.
The moral which comes off the movie is something like this: "Ur destiny is decided by ur fate, which U have to accept and move along in the walk of life but never to forget ur friends and teachers who have been a part of ur life."

Bk.....

Been to Pru's house this morning. He has the coolest music collection ever. I took only two Imation CDs so I cud copy only a few MP3s, some hindi ones and few english ones. I watched HomeAlone movie for the hundredth time in his house. The rest of the day I wasn't doing anything else except listening to those new MP3s. The ones from G-Shanker , Arjun , Brundavan colony and those of Anand were exceptionally good. I also copied Enigma , Enrique Escape , MTV Fantastic Females and few others which I don't have.
I think Yahoo is gaining on MSN; They've got some exciting new features like Avatars, Audibles and other stuff. MSN is lagging behind, they have to come up with few novel features to ensure that they maintain their position. Did U see the new Yahoo messenger - it's so cool. I don't have to point out the 100MB mailbox which Yahoo came out with long bk, and just think how much is Hotmail's 2MB space before the giant. Of course MSN was telling for the last 3 months that its goin to upgrade to 250MB- but it never happenned till now. Wait until Google comes out with its much awaited G-mail with 1 GB mailbox; what will be the fate of MSN? Already Rediff India and Yahoo China came out with 1GB mailboxes.

Life's good......

I'm feeling up today... just because I realised how extremely happy life can get at times. On an optimistical note I feel that all this is a well deserved rest after two gruelling years of hard work(which did not pay off too well) and before another four years of bouts with books and computers(programming). You know how tiresome programming can get. Maybe after these four years I'll end up with spectacles having half-an-inch thick glasses. 8-) ..Yuck I can't imagine myself.. neither can u, of course. Those last two yrs were not too gruelling after all; I can't deny the enjoyment in the hostel. U know how exciting, adventurious and enjoyable hostel life can be. Guess what I'm goin to spend the next four yrs in hostel too. That's really exciting. If I can put up a good score in TOEFL and GRE in these four yrs, I can think of continuing my studies in some foreign country and after that come bk to India. If this way dosen't work I can try for MBA through IIMs which are some of the best colleges for management studies in India. Or even I can do M.Tech from one of the IITs which is equally good. Of course it is not very easy to get into these premier institutions as u have to face some really tough examinations and come out in the top.
I'm thinking of doing some shopping today, buy some music CDs and get a new pair of Panasonic earphones cause I destroyed the old ones accidentally. Then come bk and sit in front of the idiot box, an INDIA - PAKISTAN cricket match is on. U can easily guess how exciting a cricket match between our two countries can get.
My internet connection is getting really slow. Think we'll have to switch to broad band.

Trying to keep my blog live...

I haven't updated this for the last two days, just because I can't think of writing anything. I have been going through some random blogs, largely those of teens. It's interesting to know that we teens all around the world have similar thoughts and musings. It's like this; most of the things I read about from the blogs of our co-teens happened in my life with no or little difference too.
The story I read today on Sweety's blog made me think for a while; it made my thoughts more stubborn on emotions(which are as useful as bullshit). It was a good thing the girl did at last; just leave ur thoughts and emotions to die with time and move forward in life. Let not others or ur attachment with them hinder ur progress in life. It’s foolish to keep thinking of some stupid bloke who never even cared to remember you. It was just a waste of precious tears and tissues used to wipe ur tears away with. Thoughts like those have a way of sinking into ur feet rendering them useless.

R.S.Rathore broke India's olympic medal jinx creating history when he bagged Silver. The ace shooter ranking 3rd in the world gave India its first silver medal at Athens 2004. The 34-year-old former army Major who fought insurgency in Kashmir during his tenure with the Indian army, is only the fourth Indian to win an individual medal and the first shooter ever. Well I believe this is just the beginning...

Good ol' days

Just yesterday when i was sitting on the same old couch of mine,
not barely but clearly i remembered the gone by time...

although the daily hassles never let us remember our past,
but the silent surroundings do spell the nostalgic cast...

those were the sunny days untouched by the ponderance over sanctity of life,
we were so bounded by love which made us ignore that natural strife..

no matter what, i remember my foolish feats,
i still feel the pounding of age old beats...

thinking about those days bring tears to my eye,
i want them back what if the rivers run dry....

just then a sound from outside makes me come back to reality,
i don't care if people do call it superficiality...

there is no sense in things i speculated,
the good old days are out and amputated...

i know time won't roll back nor it would stop,
past is untouchable now and i just can't hop...

with these immaculate thoughts in my mind i still am baffled,
desire of mine is like a distant star which just cannot be grappled.........................


She is one damn B****

Oh God! Yes, Chitti and Kutti were right after all in predicting my boredom before they went away. I'll have to wait until the evening when I can drop a visit to any of my friends house. I got up at 9 'o' clock and have been online since with nothing else to do apart from watching the Olympics where India hasn't been faring well. I have been chatting with Sweety for atleast half an hour before lunch and a meagre 10 mins. after lunch. I think she's as fed up with boredom as me, and to make matters worse she can't walk properly due to the minor operation on her foot. Any way her college begins the day after tommorrow and she will engage herself in no time with new friends and stuff. I haven't any such luck as can't dream of my college opening before atleast a month passes. Chitti and Kutti will be starting today for London; it will be another two years atleast before they come back. This boredom.....

Happy Independence Day

The day when India woke up to freedom back in 1947 was a day of great celebration. A country got rid of her foreign yoke and became a sovereign nation, she celebrated her sovereignty on this day - the triumph of numerous martyred souls. It was a day of fulfillment, it was the day of a new beginning, a birth of a nation.
On the stroke of midnight, a country came into life again as the British handed over the governance of India to the Indian leaders. The long and difficult struggle had borne fruit at last, though the happiness was marred by the fact that the country was divided into India and Pakistan and the violent communal riots had left the countries permanently scarred. That was the price that India paid for her dearly bought freedom. The British government declared the country independent and left for their own shores.
On the 15th of August, 1947, India became completely independent. It was on this historic date that Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime Minister of India, unfurled the Indian tricolor on the ramparts the magnificent Red Fort, symbolically marking the end of the fucking British colonial rule.

Boredom - how bad it can get

Oh no! I have been putting up too many posts on love. I just can't get to understand it though.
The case with me is 'An idle man's blog is the devil's work shop'. I'm just sitting in front of the internet having nothing else to do literally the whole day; it's goin' to be this way until my college starts, and that's not before a whole month passes by. The last month and the forth coming one are the two extremes; it's like this: U spend a whole month (which seemed to have passed away in a second) with ur favourite people and the fuckin' next month(which seems to be going on for ever....) with no one to look at.
I'm grabbing my chances to while away my time though; the whole afternoon yesterday I was enjoying with my friends speeding away on the roads of Raj.

Garfield and me


Garfield and I live very ordinary lives, like any other fifth cat and human (resp.) would. The last 3 weeks

Life's back to normal again; after Sweety, Chitti and kutti went back to where they came from. The last three weeks were like the best time in my life apart from the two years at hostel. Not another thought came to my mind except spending my time with my darling cousins. Although the family reunion takes place every two years, this time was the best as we are all older than we were the last time and that led to better understanding among us. We four raided all the icecream parlours in the town and put them into business. The soft ice cream machine at Home Needs must be missing us cause we all used to have atleast two rounds of icecream every evening. We ransacked the Bangalore bakery out of its puff supply and Anand sweets out of their sweet supply each day. I'm not forgetting Priyanka restaurant for the wonderful Butter chicken and Chilli chicken. However Chinna could not be with us most of the time as he had his examinations to cope up with. Every one of us enjoyed the trip to Godavari river which was in its full flow even though we could not go boating in it. I'm going to have a hearty laugh every time i pass by the tiny island in the middle of Godavari about which Chitti was very excited and wanted to buy it for herself. I will neither forget the animated chats we had nor the the usual teasing each other.

But i'm not at all dissapointed that i'm all alone again because of the optimist in me who looks forward for better days in the next reunion.

I just removed the article named 'PREREQUISITE FOR POETRY- STRUGGLE' from my posts. People are thinking i'm a poet of some sort and an extremely emotional person; well i'm not and would never like to be. I don't beleive that life is just a poetry and that we humans sway to the tunes of the rhymes. Well i think life is a battle to be won; That probably explains my ambitions to become the 'DICTATOR OF THE WORLD'. Human race should read and talk about me until it becomes extinct. My great great great great grandson should study history from books which have my photograph on the cover page. I'm starting to learn to shut my emotions, because you have to develop a HEART OF LEAD in order to win in the battle of life. Of what use is the life which passes-by unnoticed by the world in which your death is only mourned by your family and which is just 'another death' in the wide world?. That's why I want my death to be something which is discussed for generations to come and is mourned by every sane person in the world as the death of THE GREAT INDIAN WHO RULED THE WORLD.

My School life

I’m really looking forward for my engineering college to start; it means new campus, new professors, new friends, new hostel, new subjects and a new life. Last night I was thinking it would be better if I can manage to write down a note of every thing that happened in my life as far as I can remember, so that I can have no trouble in reminiscensing things for writing my autobiography at a latter age.

The following text was written by me some two years ago. Just thought I'd put it up here.

Mrs.Kusuma was my first nursery teacher at Happy Model School to which I usually went on a rickshaw. I still remember the school so well even though I did not once go there after I left it; The morning prayer and VandeMataram done in the backyard; myself sitting in the corner of the class room being scared of talking to anyone or gaining the teachers attention. Then began my actual schooling at St.Ann’s Eng. Med. School, which was by far the best school in the town.

I went to the school on the school bus crying all the way. My first friend at school was Sushma who sat beside me on the first day of my school and continued with me until I left St.Ann’s; she was always the best student in our class and was the class leader. Mrs.Transfield was my LKG teacher to whose house I frequently went with my parents for many years until I left St.Ann’s. Mrs.Jennyfer was my class teacher when I was in UKG; I don’t remember much of her though except for her huge Christmas tree and the small glass of wine she offered us when we went to her house.

Ms.Hema was the teacher of my 1st std., I remember her to be really beautiful; there was a time when she scolded me for my bad handwriting and she herself praised me for improving my writing later.

Mr.Clinton was my class teacher in 2nd std.; I wasn’t having a good impression of him at that time because he used to conduct daily tests and punish everyone who didn’t fare well in the tests, but I was a really good student anyway.

I remember Mrs. Sujata Suresh, who was our class teacher in 3rd std.; she was such a crank pot and a really scary looking woman with whom I had to go to school in the auto until I left St.Ann’s. Sr. Virgin Mary was my mathematics teacher that year; she came to my house along with Sujatha teacher and had dinner with my family after praying for us. Mr. O.V.Ramana taught us Science and Ms.Girija continued to teach telugu this year also after 1st and 2nd stds.

Mrs. Narsamma was my 4th std. class teacher who taught us Mathematics. Mrs.Saradha taught us Social Studies. Mrs. Suguna taught us Science; everyone in the class of 60 students was scared of her. Mrs.Sujatha continued to teach English. Mr Mallikarjuna Rao taught Telugu that year; he was such a sport but strict teacher. This year the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of our school took place in such a grand scale with atleast 6000 people who came to watch it besides being telecasted live on TV.

Mr. Ojha was our class teacher in 5th std.; he taught us Hindi and used to punish students mercilessly. Mr.Thompson taught us mathematics, Sr. Deepa taught us English; she was such a good teacher and I was her favourite student in the class of around 70. Mrs.jansi taught us telugu; she was very particular on hand writing and made us copy write daily. Sr. Josmy taught us Social Studies; she is my all-time favourite teacher who had a style of her own; she conducted regular quizzes and all. Mr.R.V. Prasad taught us Science. I usually sat in the first bench and the first two benches were like a group; we studied together and played together.

Sr.Josmy happened to be my class teacher in 6th std.; she was a really young nun who had a cool glow on her face. Unfortunately she was transferred somewhere else at the end of the year. Mrs. Don taught us Mathematics that year; and I was her fav. Student in the class. Mrs. Mahalakshmi taught us telugu; she was famous all round the school for the vigour with which she punished students. I was lucky enough to escape her fury as the doctor warned her not to get excited after a small accident.

Mr. Nagendra Prasad was my class teacher in 7th std. Mr. Nageswara Rao who was known to be a brilliant teacher taught us Mathematics. Mrs Subbalakshmi taught us English. Mr Mallikarjuna rao taught us Telugu. Ms.Brazitta taught us hindi that year. Sr.Deepthi taught us Geography.

Mrs Girija who came from Singapore the previous year taught us English in 8th std.; she was a really good teacher. Sr.deepti taught us History. Miss.Suzikutti taught us Geography. Mrs.Nirmala taught us Biology and Chemistry while Mr.V.V.Ramana thought us Physics; he was a very good teacher but the worst critic I have ever seen, he finds a fault with everything literally. Mr.Nageshwar Rao continued to teach Mathematics this year also. This was a pretty messy year. However this was my last year at Sr.Ann’s school. I remember the glorious building, which taught me for 10 years and laid foundation for my whole life as strong as its own foundations. The huge school is worth its weight in gold. I can never forget the classrooms in which I studied and the grounds on which I played for 10 years. I’m waiting for the day when the grand school can proudly teach its students about its old student (me).

The next two years 9th and 10th stds. I studied in NNT School, which was established by old St.Ann’s teachers. It was a small school and it was like a family. All the teachers were young and were such a sport to be with. I remember Mrs.Hafeeza who taught English, Miss.Yamini who taught us Physics, Mr.Muralidhar who taught us Biology, Mrs. Vasudha who taught us Geography and economics, Mrs. Sarvani who taught us history and civics, Ms. Sireesha who taught us Biology, Mrs. Maheswari who taught us Physics, Mrs. Vishala who taught us English, Mr.Bhaskar who taught us Physics and the directors Mr.Nageshwara Rao, Mr Nagendra Prasad and Mr. Thompson Eliot. I can remember the farewell party we gave to our seniors in 9th std., the party given to us by our juniors and the one we gave to our teachers in 10th std., the Teacher’s day celebration in which I staged a play along with my friends. And how can i even dream of forgetting the excursion in 9th std. which covered Simhachalam, Annavaram where we took a bath in a small canal, Borra caves full of enchanting rock formations and stalagmites, Visakhapatnam which was a beautiful city ; the view from atop the Kailasagiri and the beach. And the best of all Araku valley with spellbinding scenes donned in natural beauty and chill, to bear which i had to wear two sweaters and a monkey cap. The journey from Visakhapatnam to Borra caves on the train was the best as the train passes through 28 tunnels; the water falls on the left and the deep green valley on the right holds your mind glued to the scene. The enjoyment in bus with all my friends and teachers for nearly four sleepless days was once-in-a-lifetime experience.

No one wishes to forget the days of his childhood; as a Telugu poet prays:
"Vundo ledo Swargam;
naa punyam naaku echhaye.
Naa sarwaswam neeku istha;
naa 'baalyam' naaku echhaye."
meaning:
"I don't know whether there is a heaven or not;
give me back my merit.
I will give you everything you ask for;
Give me back my childhood in return"

(Wow, and do I preach, this halo round my head is getting to be very uncomfortable though, I would gladly replace it with the devil's horns to feel at ease ;)
